Most children do not look forward to doctor’s appointments, much less trips to the dentist. However, Xhoana Gjelaj, whose parents were both dental technicians in Albania, located in southeastern Europe, loved dentistry beginning at a very early age. With a passion for the profession, that impressionable young girl knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up…an amazing, highly-skilled, highly-acclaimed dentist!

Dr. Xhoana Gjelaj, (pronounced “July”), met her husband, Piro, on Christmas Day 2008, at a holiday party. They quickly learned they had a lot in common and truly enjoyed each other’s company. Both loved to read and to learn new things, and they both loved traveling and sampling regional cuisine. What an incredible gift to have found each other on Christmas! It did not take long before the two fell madly in love and were married the following July.

Piro shared, “Learning is a life-long hobby for both of us. We both like to relax, read, and watch our favorite shows on television. We both like to travel to new places and explore the food scene, at home or away. ”

“Home” is now Palm Harbor, but their home-away-from-home remains their technologically-advanced dental practice in Trinity, which they successfully operate together, with their talented, highly-educated staff members.

Dr. Gjelaj and her husband jump-started her professional career in 2009, when they opened Tarpon Springs Dental. They chose to expand after seven years in Tarpon Springs, by building a state-of-the-art dental practice launched as Trinity Dental Arts in January 2016, and now this dynamic dentist brings her breadth of knowledge and experience, along with that of their knowledgeable staff, to help patients in Trinity, West Pasco, and North Pinellas Counties.

When it comes to creating balance between their personal and professional lives, which can be exceptionally challenging when spouses live and work together 24/7, Piro explained, “It is very difficult, but we manage to make time for each other, family and social obligations. It is very important to know and focus on your values and let them guide your decisions and schedules. It helps that we both love our jobs.

“Most doctors’ offices are high-volume, high-turnover, with long wait times. We strive to keep waiting to a minimum, adhering to our primary goal of providing exceptional dentistry to each person, individually,” he continued.

Exceptional Dentistry with Lasting Results are the words this couple live by every day, and their exceptional love for each other, coupled with the profession they adore, propels them to always do their very best for each other and for each patient they serve.

“(Our profession) gives us an opportunity to help people change their lives. Dental health has an impact on overall health, not to mention quality of life. We see the difference that a healthy smile makes first hand in our patients and how their lives improve. That is very rewarding and inspires us to do better,” Piro added.

If they had more spare time, Piro would definitely do more fishing, and Dr. Gjelaj would get a dog as a canine companion to their two felines.
