BEACHES AND FUN ON THE WATER

We have some of the best beaches in the world right here in the Tampa Bay area. And that’s not all, our beautiful rivers and springs offer more ways to enjoy for the whole family. From sun-bathing, shelling, and body-surfing to boating, fishing and wildlife viewing. There are even splash parks where you can have some fun cooling off during the warm Florida sunshine. So put on your sunglasses and sandals (don’t forget the sunscreen) and take stay-cation.

PASCO COUNTY

Anclote Key Preserve State Park – partly in Pinellas County, is 403 acres on four barrier islands accessible only by boat. It’s four miles of beaches offer beautiful sunsets, wildlife, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, sunbathing, swimming, picnicking and grills. The island has no electricity or running water, so bring all supplies including water. The primitive campground has a composting toilet. Campers must check in with the park office. A restored 1887 lighthouse is on the southern end of Anclote Key, which is recognized for the diversity and numbers of beach-nesting birds, such as the piping plover.

Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park – Enjoy being on the water Kayaking or canoeing, you can bring your own or rent them at the park. Although this park protects four miles of pristine coastline, there are no beaches or swimming areas, however you can swim outside the park on Durney Key, which can be reached by launching your kayak or canoe in the park (map is available.) You can even hike the Springs Trail that winds through pine flatwoods and oak hammocks.

The Lift Adventure Park – Located within Sun West Park, the Lift aspires to provide a unique experience in outdoor recreation. Never been wakeboarding before? Well now you can spend your summer on the water learning how to ride behind our System 2.0, Full Size Cable on our beautiful spring-fed lake. Have fun swimming, wake boarding, paddle boarding, kayaking and playing beach volleyball in the white. Conquer the Aqua Park and run, climb, jump, swing and slide on the on the one-of-a-kind inflatable playground.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY

Hillsborough River State Park – This park provides many opportunities for outdoor recreation. From canoeing, kayaking and fishing, to hiking, biking or picnicking. While the swimming pool is temporarily closed for renovations till 2023, you can still enjoy camping and view the Class II river rapids, which are rare in Florida.

PINELLAS COUNTY

Egmont Key State Park – Accessible only by boat, this park is primarily a wildlife refuge but it is a quiet place to relax and collect shells along secluded, pristine beaches. Egmont Key has a unique natural and cultural history, including a lighthouse that has stood since 1858. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, trails, wildlife viewing and picnicking. Egmont Key is located at the mouth of Tampa Bay, southwest of Fort DeSoto Beach.

HERNANDO COUNTY

Nature Coast Aquatic Preserve (NCAP) – The NCAP is bordered to the north by  Big Bend Seagrasses and St. Martins Marsh Aquatic Preserves and to the south by Pinellas County Aquatic Preserve. Combined, these four preserves protect the largest contiguous seagrass meadow (nearly 400,000 acres ) in the Gulf of Mexico and the largest spring-fed seagrass habitat in the world. Kayaking, boating, fishing and scalloping are popular recreational opportunities and is is accessible from 14 boat ramps, four state parks, two national wildlife refuges and numerous local parks.
