Cash Mob West Pasco
Sponsored by YOUR HOME Tampa Bay – Cash Mob West Pasco is an organized monthly event dedicated to giving local businesses a boost in revenue.
A cash mob brings community members together much like a flash mob; however, instead of the normal flash-mob activities, the cash mob storms the doors of a preselected mom-and-pop business that is often a cornerstone of a community and its history. Each mobber spends an agreed upon amount of $20, $10 at the chosen local business and $10 afterward at the local restaurant increasing the sales at two local businesses in one day.
What We Do
Realtors Debbie Dawson and Valerie Jane Wilson have gathered people from the community to join them and once a month, they go “mob” a local business. It is a true blessing to see the look on the face of the owner when a crowd of people come in to their business. At 10 am each month in a designated parking lot, the “MOB” meets up, each armed with a $10 dollar bill. Debbie and Valerie then reveal the chosen local business to be mobbed. Everyone then proceeds to crash that location and shop, spending their ten dollar bill and sometimes much more! Afterwards the “MOB” heads over to a nearby restaurant to socialize and eat lunch. We all then vote for the next business to be hit next month, with the winner being revealed a new designated parking lot in the next month.
What’s the Effect?
While a ten dollar bill might not seem like much, it adds up when the “MOB” is a great number of people. The Cash Mob has increased sales from $450 to over $2,000 in 30 minutes! It’s great fun for the MOB, and it’s an incredible shock to the business owner. These small time businesses are so grateful for the community’s support.
