Tampa has been home to the Florida State Fair since 1915, opening today, Thursday February 10th and runs through February 21st. The Florida State Fair showcases some of the state’s best agricultural achievements, the country’s largest midway and of course…. the fair food can not be rivaled. Free maps to entertainment and exhibits are available once inside along with information cards to guide you to your favorite fair food. The Florida State Fair is not just for kids. Their are so many things to experience, you are sure to find something special no matter what your age. If you’re going for the rides, there are more than 100. Don’t miss the the Midway Sky Eye, the largest portable Ferris wheel in North America at 155 feet high. If the entertainment is your thing, you won’t be disappoint by the Florida State Fair lineup this year. From on stage music, comedy and circus performances to demonstrations and thrill shows both on land and water. Check out the Florida State Fair’s full entertainment lineup 

As always, the Florida State Fair exhibits and competitions alone can fill your day. The agricultural, live stock and wildlife exhibits are sure to please the animal lovers in us all. If you appreciate the art of handmade, there is a wide variety of craft exhibits. Visit the Expo Hall for retail booths for home products and cooking shows. The Florida Center houses the Creative Living Competition where competitors from all over the state have come to compete for the blue-ribbon prize in quilting, baking, painting, and other skills. Both youth and adult artists & crafters, bakers, woodworkers, horticulturalists, needle artists, photographers, and more bring their best work to be judged at the fair.

The Cracker County museum re-creates an 1890s rural Florida town with original buildings dating from 1870 to 1912, it was relocated to the fairgrounds from across the state. Costumed interpreters portray the daily living experience of Florida’s pioneers telling the story of the settlement of Florida during the 1800s by cattle ranchers, who got the name “crackers” from the sound of the whips they used to drive cattle.

Florida State Fair: The 2022 Florida State Fair runs Feb. 10-21 at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301 N, Tampa.

Tickets: $10, $6 for ages 6-11, $8 seniors. Prices rise once the fair officially opens. Admission after Feb. 10 is $11 on weekdays, $15 weekends; $6 weekdays for ages 6-11, $9 on weekends. Tickets are available at floridastatefair.com. ATMs are scattered throughout the grounds.

Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday. The midway opens at 11 a.m. weekdays and 10:30 a.m. weekends and closes 90 minutes after gates close.

Face Masks are not required when indoors, though they are suggested. There are hand-sanitizing stations in multiple locations.
