No need to drive to Plant City when we have a Strawberry Farm right here on Starkey Blvd. Weather you want to pick your own in the fields at Starkey’s Farm or purchased already picked just up the street at Starkey Market, you’ll get the freshest berries and be supporting you local grower.

Cook your favorite instant oatmeal and add diced strawberries for a quick breakfast.

Toast an Eggo Waffle and cut it into bite size pieces, top with Greek Yogurt and add diced strawberries for a quick and healthy treat. Make a fancy American style parfait by layering the ingredients in a tall glass.

Purchase ready made dessert cups and add diced strawberries and ready whip for a no-bake shortcake.

Now, Strawberry Shortcuts for a sweeter dessert

Simple Strawberry Sauce, dice 1 quart of strawberries and add to a medium bowl, sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar evenly over the berries, and stir to evenly coat all of the fruit. Let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and chill until ready to serve. The longer they sit in the refrigerator the softer and saucier the fruit will get so do this to your own liking.

Purchase a plain cheesecake and top with the sauced strawberries for a dessert that is as pretty as it is good. Perfect for a special evening or to share at the next potluck.

Bake Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits. Split open while still warm and top with the sauced berries and Cool Whip for a hot home-made strawberry shortcake.

How about a no-bake frozen strawberry pie you and make in minutes.  In a large bowl, add 12 oz of strawberry yogurt, 6 oz of dices strawberries, 2 tbsp sugar (optional), 8 oz of Cool Whip and gently fold together. Spoon the mixture into a no bake graham cracker crust, seal and place in freezer for 4 hours until set. When you are ready serve, simply set it on the counter for 15 minutes to soften and slice. For extra sweetness, you can always top with sauced strawberries and more cool whip. Yummy!
